Pastoral Training for the Care of Souls
Our professors are also faithful pastors. They teach from a pastoral perspective, seeking to demonstrate how Hebrew exegesis makes preaching more precise; how church history provides depth and weight to sermons; how counseling helps to apply the Word to hurting people; and how theology helps you to know and love the God you preach.
Commitment to spiritual growth and discipleship is built into the TMS curriculum. Your professors will exhort you to complete each assignment as an act of worship to God and you will sit in a number of classes dedicated to your own personal growth — classes on prayer and holiness that prepare you to be the man of God your church needs.
As a TMS student, you will attend weekly chapel services with the entire student body. This is a dedicated time to worship and sit under the preaching of faculty, alumni, and special guest speakers. Services are followed by small group prayer. Chapel messages are live streamed and available to watch in the Message Archive.
In Discipleship Chapel, students are split into groups of 6-8 and paired with a faculty member, pastor, or elder of Grace Community Church. You’ll spend the year with these men, meeting to pray, encourage, confess sins, discuss areas of growth, and learn from the wisdom and experience of your group leader.
