In 2023, The Master’s Seminary applied for accreditation through ATS, the Association of Theological Schools. Nearly 300 schools are currently accredited by ATS, including Ivy League schools such as Harvard and evangelical institutions such as Dallas Theological Seminary and Reformed Theological Seminary. An ATS committee visited The Master’s Seminary campus at the end of March. At the conclusion of the visit, the committee recommended that The Master’s Seminary receive initial accreditation for seven years.

In God’s kind providence, the ATS Board of Commissioners has accepted the committee’s recommendation and granted The Master’s Seminary a seven-year accreditation period.

This is certainly wonderful news for the institution. It affirms the high-quality education at TMS as the institution continues to train pastors to preach Scripture and train men to do likewise. In their report, the committee highlighted four strengths of the institution.

1. A deep sense of historical continuity with the institution’s founding principles that strengthens community identity and the social bonds of its faculty, staff, and students.

2. Clearly articulated and universally embraced doctrinal and mission statements.

3. A spirit of joyful collegiality and trust that emerges in every sector of the school’s ecosystem.

4. A commitment to connect learning with practical ministry, as documented in the phrase “45 steps from theory to practice.”

The leadership at TMS is grateful to the Lord for His ongoing kindness to our institution. This accreditation through ATS is another evidence of the unique, high-quality education every student receives, as well as the important kingdom work that’s happening on the campus here in Southern California.
