The Master’s Seminary is pleased to announce several leadership appointments that will strengthen the institution’s executive and academic leadership. Dr. Nathan Busenitz has been appointed to the board of directors of The Master’s University and Seminary (TMUS), Dr. Mark Zhakevich has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Administration at The Master’s Seminary, and Dr. Nathan LeMaster has been appointed Provost of Academics.

These appointments come as Dr. Busenitz transitions from his role as executive vice president of The Master’s Seminary to serve as the pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church. His appointment to the TMUS board will allow him to continue serving the institution and strengthen the longstanding relationship between the church and the seminary. Throughout his years of service, Nathan has demonstrated a deep commitment to theological education, the local church, and the ministry of God’s Word.

Mark Zhakevich Appointed Senior Vice President of Administration

Dr. Mark Zhakevich has been promoted to senior vice president of administration at The Master’s Seminary, following years of faithful service in institutional leadership. He has served in a variety of roles across Grace Community Church and The Master’s University and Seminary, including pastor of administration and CFO at Grace Community Church, professor of New Testament at The Master’s Seminary, and vice president of finance and operations.

Before entering full-time ministry, Mark worked at Deloitte & Touche, where he gained experience in finance and organizational management. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in History from UCLA, a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theology in the New Testament from The Master’s Seminary, and a Ph.D. in the New Testament from the University of Edinburgh. Mark was one of the translators of the Legacy Standard Bible alongside other TMUS faculty members and currently teaches in the New Testament at TMS.

Mark has consistently demonstrated a commitment to the mission of the seminary, a love for the local church, and a desire to see men equipped for faithful pastoral ministry. We are grateful for his service and look forward to seeing how the Lord will use his experience, wisdom, and leadership in this new role.

Nathan LeMaster Appointed Provost of Academics

Dr. Nathan LeMaster, an associate professor and the associate dean of academics, has been appointed provost of academics. Nathan has served the seminary through his teaching and scholarship, with particular expertise in Biblical languages and Old Testament studies.

His academic background includes a Master of Divinity from The Master’s Seminary, an M.A. in education from Arizona State University, an M.A. in Semitic languages at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and a Ph.D. in Hebrew linguistics at Cambridge University. He currently teaches Hebrew exegesis and related language courses, helping prepare students to handle Scripture carefully and faithfully.

As provost of academics, Nathan will provide leadership for the seminary’s academic programs and faculty. We are thankful for his commitment to the study of God’s Word and look forward to his leadership in maintaining the academic rigor and theological depth that characterize the seminary’s training.

Looking Ahead

These appointments reflect the Lord’s provision of capable and faithful leaders to advance the mission of The Master’s Seminary. Under the leadership of our president, Dr. Abner Chou, The Master’s Seminary remains committed to its calling to train men for pastoral ministry—to preach the Word of God, reach the world for Christ, and teach others to do the same.

“I see the Lord’s wise hand in His provision of leadership for The Master’s Seminary,” said Dr. Chou. “Nathan Busenitz’s appointment to the board places immense wisdom in the highest levels of leadership and tightens our unity across the ministries. Mark Zhakevich’s and Nathan LeMaster’s new responsibilities allow us to continue serving our people well and to advance the institution’s mission. It is such a joy and privilege to serve alongside of all of these brothers, and I very much look forward to what our Lord will do in this new season as we seek to fulfill the ministry the Lord has entrusted to us.”
