Application Process

  1. Submit a Financial Aid Application.
  2. Complete and submit all requested documents.
  3. For Federal Student Aid, a student must:
    • Complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov – Enter TMS’s federal school code 001220.
    • Be a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident (international students, see below).
    • Be enrolled at least half-time (6 units per semester).
    • Not be in default on any student loans.

The MacArthur Trust Scholarship enables the finest candidates to receive a premier theological education without being encumbered by student debt. It enhances students learning experience by eliminating their need to pay for tuition so they can focus on their studies and ministry involvement. 

The MacArthur Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship. 

The scholarship cannot be combined with a scholarship other than the Full-Time Residential Scholarship and it does not cover any fees that are associated with attending TMS. Summer and winterim tuition are not included. To see all fees TMS students are responsible for each semester, as well as the costs of summer and winterim courses, visit tms.edu/admissions/financial-information. 

Students must meet the following requirements:

  • Earn and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (renewal based on GPA).
  • Character qualification in agreement with 1 Timothy 3:1-13.
  • Ministry involvement in a local church.
  • Affirm the TMS doctrinal statement.
  • Be a new residential students to The Master’s Seminary.
  • Enrolled full-time with a minimum of 11 units on-campus at the main LA campus of TMS.
  • Must make significant progress to complete the degree in 4 years from the student’s first semester of enrollment.
  • Must reapply every new school year to renew the scholarship. The scholarship will not be automatically given without reapplying.

The Full-Time Residential Scholarship is a cost-of-living subsidy for all full-time Master of Divinity students at the Los Angeles campus

The Richard Mayhue Honors Scholarships provides our most promising applicants with a tuition-free seminary education. Our aim is to enable these students to finish seminary without hindrances that they might faithfully preach Christ to the world.

The scholarship provides full-tuition and fees for up to 7 consecutive semesters (3 ½ years). Tech Fee, Shepherds’ Conference, insurance, or optional fees not included.

To Apply

  • Complete the admissions process and be accepted to The Master’s Seminary M.Div. program.
  • Be an incoming (new) student or online student coming to the main campus for the first time.
  • Have a desire to pursue full-time pastoral ministry and exhibit the gifts and character consistent with 1 Timothy 3:1-7
  • Have a minimum undergraduate or graduate GPA of 3.7.
  • Submit the Richard Mayhue Honors Scholarship Application including the required essay and sermon.
  • Affirm the TMS Doctrinal Statement.

To Retain the Scholarship

  • Maintain a 3.7 cumulative GPA. If the student falls below the minimum 3.7 GPA, he will be given one semester of warning before the scholarship is revoked.
  • Demonstrate a proven character consistent with 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
  • Formulate a clear, long-term ministry goal by the end of 3rd semester for review by the Dean of Students.
  • Affirm the TMS Doctrinal Statement every semester.
  • Make significant progress to complete the degree in 7 consecutive semesters (not including winter/summer). If a student drops below the full-time course load (11 units), he will be responsible for paying the difference in the increased tuition rate.

Recognizing the vast need for godly, biblical pastor-teachers and Bible translators in our country and around the world, the Tyndale Center Pastor-Translator Scholarship has been established to aid deserving students who show an aptitude for language studies and aspire to become Bible translators committed to ministering in the local church.

 

Scholarship Amount

  • Full-Tuition and Fees up to 4 years (not including Shepherds’ Conference fees).
  • Winter and summer courses not included.

Requirements

To Apply

  • Acceptance into the M.Div. program (L.A. campus only) with a desire to pursue pastoral ministry and Bible translation.

In partnership with The Master’s Academy International, The Master’s Seminary will offer a scholarship to select students connected with TMAI. The scholarship has been established specifically for graduates, future instructors, and current TMAI faculty/staff.


Scholarship Amount

Amounts range from $500 to full tuition and fees.

Requirements

To Apply

  • Student must be a graduate, future instructor, or current TMAI faculty/staff member.
  • Student must be accepted into the M.Div., B.Th., Th.M., Ph.D., or D.Min. program. 
  • Student must demonstrate financial need and academic merit.
  • Student must exemplify godliness and spiritual maturity, manifesting a cooperative spirit toward the seminary and a sympathetic attitude toward its goals and objectives.
  • Student must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Student must be registered full-time, respective of their degree program.

Knowing the high cost of living in Los Angeles and the difficulty of finding affordable housing, The Master’s Seminary in partnership with PAC Properties has created The Housing Scholarship. The purpose of this scholarship is to alleviate some of the financial burden of attending seminary in Los Angeles.

Scholarship Amount

  • $4,200 per semester or $8,400 per year
  • The duration of the scholarship shall not exceed three years

Requirements

To Apply

  • Student must complete the admissions process and be accepted into The Master’s Seminary’s M.Div. or B.Th. programs.
  • Student must be a new student at The Master’s Seminary.
  • Student must be married and demonstrate financial need.
  • Student must exemplify godliness and spiritual maturity, manifesting a cooperative spirit toward the seminary and a sympathetic attitude toward its goals and objectives.
  • Student must submit a character reference.
  • Student must be a resident (or approved to be a resident) of a PAC Property.

Training at The Master’s Seminary is often accomplished with the support of a student’s home church. To encourage and support local churches investing in men for gospel ministry, TMS has established a matching scholarship that will match $1 for every $3 contributed by a student’s home church.

 

Scholarship Amount

  • $1 for every $3 contributed by the church.
  • TMS will contribute up to $1000 per year; $500 per semester.
  • The availability of funds is contingent upon budgetary approval for each academic year.
  • Winter and summer courses not included.

Requirements

  • Student must be enrolled in the B.Th., M.Div., or Th.M. program.
  • Contribution must come directly from the church and not from individuals.
  • Student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.

The Master’s Seminary, in partnership with Grace Community Church, has established a scholarship to help GCC employees working in Facilities, Security, and Grace Books International. With the commitment from Grace Community Church to scholarship students up to 11 units per year, TMS will match the scholarship for an additional 11 units per year for full-time students.

 

Scholarship Amount

  • Matches up to 11 units per year upon receipt of payment from Grace Community Church.
  • The availability of funds is contingent upon budgetary approval for each academic year.

The Christian Worker’s Scholarship has been established to help train students at TMS who desire to pursue a pastoral or missions career.

 

Scholarship Amount

  • Three-year Scholarship
  • Award amounts may vary depending on student’s need and merit.

Requirements

To Apply

  • Applicants must exemplify godliness and spiritual maturity, manifesting a cooperative spirit toward the seminary and a sympathetic attitude toward its goals and objectives.
  • Applicants must intend to go into pastoral ministry or career missions. • Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
  • Applicants must enroll full-time in at least 11 credit hours.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in the M.Div. or B.Th. programs studying at the L.A. campus.

To Retain the Scholarship

  • Recipients must be in good academic standing with the seminary, maintaining a 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA, and passing all attempted courses.
  • At the end of each academic year, recipients must submit a one-page typewritten report outlining:
    • areas of spiritual growth during the past year
    • spiritual goals for the coming year
    • examples from the past year of faithfulness in local church ministry
    • references to verify ministry involvement

Established to help students who are enrolled in the Master of Theology Program at The Master’s Seminary, this scholarship is funded by various donors who want to see students hone their exegetical and theological skills necessary for teaching in local pastoral ministry, conducting a training ministry, or researching and writing for the church and academia.

  • $500-$4,000 per year.
  • Funds are limited and amounts may vary.

  • Student must be enrolled in the Th.M. program.
  • Priority will be given to those enrolled at the Los Angeles main campus.

Training at The Master’s Seminary is often accomplished with the support of a student’s home church. To encourage and support local churches investing in men for gospel ministry, TMS has established a matching scholarship that will match $1 for every $3 contributed by a student’s home church.

 

Scholarship Amount

  • $1 for every $3 contributed by the church.
  • TMS will contribute up to $1000 per year; $500 per semester.
  • The availability of funds is contingent upon budgetary approval for each academic year.
  • Winter and summer courses not included.

Requirements

  • Student must be enrolled in the B.Th., M.Div., or Th.M. program.
  • Contribution must come directly from the church and not from individuals.
  • Student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
  • Must be a full-time student (11+ units).

The Master’s Seminary, in partnership with Grace Community Church, has established a scholarship to help GCC employees working in Facilities, Security, and Grace Books International. With the commitment from Grace Community Church to scholarship students up to 11 units per year, TMS will match the scholarship for an additional 11 units per year for full-time students.

 

Scholarship Amount

  • Matches up to 11 units per year upon receipt of payment from Grace Community Church.
  • The availability of funds is contingent upon budgetary approval for each academic year.
